It’s not an album, it’s a sonic sci-fi universe
If you’re familiar with Your Call is Important to Us, then you know it’s more than an album. It’s a story set in its own unique universe with it’s own world full of interesting characters and amazing, warm, retro tunes. It all started one day when I was on the phone with my insurance company. I’d been on the phone for over an hour just trying to get the answer to a simple question. And yet, no matter what I tried, I’d end up getting connected to someone who could supposedly answer my query, but was just as clueless as the last person.
At times, the hold music was actually a respite from the bureaucratic nightmare I was experiencing. Some of these tunes were a whole, dripped-out vibe. That lo-fi crunch, the cheesy, jazzy melodies. I was in love, and I thought to myself, “what if I made a whole album inspired by hold music?”
Fast forward to today, and the dream is a reality! But it’s not just an album. Your Call is Important to Us is an entire universe, complete with a story, characters, and even a mysterious MegaCorp known as WaveMallβ’. This limited-edition, double disc edition of the album will be the deepest dive I’ve ever done into that world.
Both versions of the album, plus more lore and exclusive extras
I created the 2nd version of the album in response to requests from fans who wanted a version they could work to, study to, or vibe out to without the songs being interrupted by a dialogue devoid of music. Don’t get me wrong, most people LOVE the skits, they’re one of the best parts of the album!
But honestly, I get where people are coming from. I’ve had friends put the album on at a party only to be confused when suddenly the groove stops and we’re all listening to a comedy skit. So now that there are two versions, the immediate question I had was: “how do I release the second album?”
The High Call Volume edition of the album was mostly made for those streaming the album. It felt a bit silly to release the 2nd version as a standalone, since it’s so similar to the original. Those who had the first album would be getting 4 duplicate tracks.
So here’s what I decided to do.
Instead of just releasing the High Call Volume Edition as a 2nd CD, I decided to make this the magnum opus of the Your Call is Important to Us project. Both versions of the album, brand new art, a lore booklet, AND a standard and extended version of a brand new track, ONLY available on the vinyl and Binary Star editions.
Long story short: I wanted to go big and give something to the most fanatical fans of the project.

FAQ for the curious and cautious:
If I pre-order, when will I get my CD?
The pre-order will run for about 1.5-2 weeks, and once the pre-order closes, CDs will likely be shipping around 2 months later. Because I’ll have to wait for the CDs to be manufactured and shipped to me, I can’t given an exact date, but the manufacturing turnaround is pretty consistent!
Why is this so expensive, it’s just a CD!
The reason it’s expensive is because I wanted to go all out on this thing! Yeah I could make a CD of the High Call Volume Edition of the album for cheap and be done with it, but I know there are fans who want more than just a CD that contains less than 50% new material. By limiting this run and charging a bit more, I can pull out all of the stops and realize the most complete version of the album. You’re not just buying two CDs, you’re also buying new art, new unreleased tracks, a new exclusive art booklet, outtakes and digital extras, and a limited-edition release!
Why not just work on something new instead of making more versions of this album?
Your Call is Important to Us has been my favorite project that I’ve worked on so far. And while I’m excited to move on to new material, I felt like I really needed to give this project the sendoff it deserves. Other than the upcoming vinyl release, this is the last new material for Your Call is Important to Us that I’m going to make. I wanted to end on a high note and have a chance to really expand the lore and the depth of this universe in a big way before I close this chapter.
If my name is in the credits, does that technically mean that I exist within the sonic universe of Your Call is Important to Us?

Will anything change between what you’ve described here and the final version?
Most likely, nothing will change, but there are aspects of the project that aren’t finished yet. For example, the lore book is not complete yet, and I haven’t assembled the digital download pack yet. You will still get them and they will still include the things I promised, but because they’re not done yet, I can’t really tell you exactly what the finished product will be like!
